Borrowing Privileges

• Alumni may borrow library material including books from the general collection, bestsellers (called 'the 14 day collection') as well as DVDs and videos. All that is needed is an RIT Alumni ID card (available from the Registrar's Office).

Database Access

• RIT Alumni can now search a suite of Proquest online databases providing access to thousands of multidisiciplary journals, national newspapers and in-depth business information. This FREE service is provided through the collaborative efforts of RIT Alumni Relations and RIT Libraries.

  To access these databases, visit the Alumni Online Community, complete a simple registration and click on "Research Databases".

  Already registered? Go directly to the Proquest Page and enter your Online Community user ID and password when prompted. Forgot your user ID or password?

  You may not access the alumni databases using a secure, https, URL. Also, other security programs will block referring URL's and prevent authentication to the Alumni databases. For information on how to configure your security programs to work with Proquest, see the Proquest FAQ.

  The Alumni Research Databases include:

  Alumni Research Library
  One of the most comprehensive online databases available via ProQuest, Research Library delivers a full array of high-quality periodicals for readers and researchers at every level. Research Library consists of over 1,700 titles in full-text from 1992 to the present and provides coverage of the following areas: arts, business, children, education, general interest, health, humanities, international studies, law, military, multicultural studies, psychology, sciences, social sciences, and women's interests.

  Alumni ABI/INFORM Complete
  Provides access to ABI/INFORM Global, ABI/INFORM Trade and Industry and ABI/INFORM Dateline. These databases combined provide in-depth coverage of business conditions, trends, corporate strategies and tactics, management techniques, competitive and product information, trade and industry news, and coverage of regional business publications.
  
  Proquest Newspapers
  Indexes and abstracts top U.S. and international newspapers, including leading international, national and regional papers such as The New York Times, USA Today, The Los Angeles Times, and The Washington Post.

• New York State Residents

  Alumni who are residents of New York State can also access a suite of databases via NOVELNY - the New York Online Virtual Electronic Library. You need only your public library card or NY Driver's License or photo ID to log in. Topic areas covered include business, general reference, health & medicine, history and science. • Open Access Resources

  A variety of database are in the public domain and freely available for searching on the internet. These include government resources and scholarly fulltext works. A selection of open access resources is available via RIT Libraries Re:Search Portal.
