What is Assisted Search? Assisted Search is a personalized point of access for RIT faculty and staff searching for information to support research, scholarship and projects tied to the university’s overall mission. Library subject specialists will help requestors identify appropriate resources and teach effective search techniques in a one-on-one environment.
Who is eligible? Faculty members engaged in university related research & scholarship.
Graduate students assisting faculty who are engaged in university related research & scholarship.
Administrators and staff seeking information to support RIT’s overall mission.
What will be provided? Assistance will include discussion about where the information requestor has already searched, identification of appropriate databases and keywords, starter search strategies, and in some cases, preliminary search results. Subscription as well as freely available resources will be investigated to ensure thorough coverage.
What is the turnaround time? Consultations with the appropriate subject specialist will occur within five business days. Questions crossing over disciplines will receive assistance from numerous subject specialists, ensuring multidisciplinary coverage.
